DS 160 without updating

Hi,

I had h1 rfe 2 times and though of converting to H4, as my wife is on H1. And I’ve a DS 160 filled for H4 got an appointment as well, but now I got H1 extension with Consular processing, and needed stamping . I want to check If I can use the same slot without a new DS 160? And I can bring all the H1 related documents for the interview, would that be doable as its hard to get another appointment in next 3 months?

You can't use the same DS160. You will have to fill up a new one and take to the fingerprinting appointment and get it updated.

Regarding the appointment, you might have to check with the Consulate or customer care to check if they can update it.

First you need to call customer care and ask if you can use H-4 visa fee for a H-1 interview which I think is not possible even though the fee is the same. In case they agree better fill a new DS-160 and take it with you.

You can fill out a new DS 160 form and leave the old one. Even though you booked your appointment, it doesn't mean your Ds 160 cannot be changed. You take the Ds 160 confirmation only at the time of the interview. So, you are good at your appointment slot.

I feel you cannot use H4 appointment for H1B appointment. You only think, if it is allowed everyone will take H4 and attend H1B. I am sure it is not allowed and if it is I will be SHOCKED !!!!
