seekingInfo13
Hi there, I have my stamped H1B till Sept 30 2020. My passport is valid till June 30 2020. I am currently in USA and planning to travel to India in January-Feb 2020 and come back to USA by Feb 7th 2020. I am planning to get my Passport renew right after this trip or before June 2020. My question are: 1) Is there minimum months of passport validity criteria while entering to USA on H1B? 2) Is passport validity in my case will cause any issue(s) during immigration process? I would appreciate any feedback related to this case. Quote Link to comment
Mav777
No and No. only thing is that your i-94 on your return To the US will be stamped till your passport validity date and not your h1b date. So to be on valid status after june 30, you will need to have a renewed PP and the h1b extension filed prior to june 30. Alternatively, you could extend your I 94 from june 30 to sep 30 at a CBP office. Quote Link to comment
cyberlord
The processing is faster/cheaper if you renew your passport in India. You get your passport within a week under normal processing (not tatkal). 1. No. 2. No. However, to get a new US visa stamped, the passport should be valid for atleast 6 months. Quote Link to comment
