crummy_carcass
Hello all, my H1-B renewal is coming up and was wondering if there will be any background checks (bankruptcy, criminal history, employment history, credit history, rental history) done by USCIS as criteria for the renewal to get approved. I know these come up for the actual Visa interview, but wasn't sure if same is the case for work permit renewals especially for H1-B. Any help is highly appreciated! Thanks, Asgar. User099
You do have to provide them with your employment detials and prove you maintined status. But I dont think they will look at rental and credit history. If there are any red flags on your criminal history then they might get alerted. Quote Link to comment

You have wrong information altogether. Quote Link to comment
JoeF
They may check criminal history, and of course your employment history to make sure you always were in status. Rental history or credit history would be a civil issue with the apartment complexes or credit card companies, and have nothing to do with immigration. Quote Link to comment
giri26
Employment history and Criminal history are of interest to immigration. So if you have something on your record, it is better to discuss with your lawyer. Quote Link to comment
