H1b Visa Stamping during Extension

Hello,

My I 94 valid until May 2020 and want to start h1 extension under Premium in DEC'2019
However, I need to Travel India for 2 weeks in Dec'2019
Can I go stamping with out New Approval as I have I94 valid for next 6 months and get stamped for just 6 months?
Does anybody had this situation?

Go for stamping and come back and apply extension to avoid confusion.

If yes come back and do H1B extension.

If no, then you will need to go for visa stamping for 6 months. In that case apply H1B in premium and you can get decision before your DEC 2019 travel.

So if his visa is currently not stamped, and he gets I-797 extension approved before December, can he get stamping from say Dec 2019 to May 2023 during his December visit if he uses the new I-797 is the DS160?

Is it at the discretion of the visa officer to give visa till May 2020 or May 2023?

I am in somewhat similar situation.

he gets I-797 extension approved before December,  - in that case the H1B approval starting date will be issue date. So once he gets this he can go for stamping.
