Rakesh Gupta
I have filed for green card for my mother. She lives in India and she also has a ten year tourist visa for US that expires in 2024. Form DS-260 (Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application) along with supporting documents was filed with NVC (National Visa Center) in May this year. We are waiting for her interview appointment from US consulate in Mumbai, India. While my mother is waiting for her interview appointment confirmation , can she travel to US on her tourist visa? pontevecchio
It would be a bad move to try and have her visit at this juncture. She should in any case be getting the Interview very soon specially if there is no RFE and all documents have been submitted. I would not take a risk. It is true that some have done this and have had no trouble. In the present administration, this IS ABSOLUTELY NOT ADVISABLE. Quote Link to comment
JoeF
A tourist visa doesn't allow immigration intent. But she has immigration intent. So, she would likely get denied entry on the visitor visa. Better not to risk that. Quote Link to comment
