Health Inusrance

Recommended Posts

I'm an IT Professional in Atlanta,GA on Stem opt. I don't have medical insurance for this year and i recently heard from my employer that I'll be penalized for not having health insurance while filing tax returns. Is it true?

Will i be charged penalty even if I take insurance from this month, If yes what will be the penalty amount?

Thanks,

SA.

There is no penalty for not having medical insurance during any months of 2019 and later years.

There was a penalty for not having medical insurance during any months of 2014-2018.

Universities generally require people on F1 to have insurance. OPT and STEM OPT are part of the F1.
