I initially did Masters in Computer Science and completed 3 year OPT. My employer filed H1B as consular processing but I received an RFE on Maintenance Status. At a real university you wouldn't have time to do any CPT, you would work on research backed by grants. So, the CPT looks bogus. Care to provide the name of the university?
