H1B extension due

Hi,

I have H1B status and it expires in October. I got the DOL approval on April and I immediately filed I-485, I-131, I765 as well as the I-140 through the company.

I got the Notice of Action for each form, where on I-765 notice of action they are including some instructions about an automatic 180-day extension.

Now my question:

Am I eligible to use the automatic 180-day extension for my EAD permit when my H1B expires in October?  or Do I need to apply for a whole new H1B application to extend my H1B for another 3 years since my first 3 years will expire on October?

In case I used the automatic 180-day route, Am I eligible anytime within this period to apply to H1B second 3-year extension? ( just in case I haven't got any approval on my submitted applications)

The reason for my question is just trying to gain some time and avoid applying to H1B second time due to the expenses of it.
