H1B to L2 Transfer

Hello,

I am on H1B and my wife is on L1B visa.  I have a plan to switch to L2 visa.

But my wife L2 petition and visa already expires, she has valid i-94 for next 2 years.

Am I eligible for apply L2 transfer only with her i-94 validity? 

If yes, Will I need to travel out of US to change my visa?
