Is H1B Transfer dependent on validity of previous employers H1B ?

Hello -

I was looking to join Company B based on receipt notice. I was of the presumption that we can continue work with company B till there is a decision on the H1B transfer petition. However, my attorney's office has the perception that i can only continue on receipt notice till the validity of my current H1B / I94 from my the previous employer. Is this really true? Appreciate your response ?

If your H1b transfer petition is reached to uscis before your I94 expiration you can work till the decision on your transfer petition.

You can work for Company B until the petition gets approved and continue there on...
