svrc88 Posted January 14, 2019 Report Share Posted January 14, 2019 Hi I was on H1B from Oct 2014 to Jan 2017. I moved to H4 EAD from Jan 2017. My Question is: As the 6 year H1B period is about to complete by Oct 2020 do I have to change back to H1B to use the remaining 3 year 9 month? Or can I use it any time later after Oct 2020 so that I don't have to go through H1B lottery/Cap. Link to comment

pontevecchio Posted January 14, 2019 Report Share Posted January 14, 2019 You can utilize the 3 years at any time assuming the whole H1 system still exists at that time. Times in H4 status are delinked and no new proposals are in the offing to link them in terms of the total time. Link to comment
