EB2 to EB1 porting

Hi, My PERM is currently being processed in EB2 category. The Form ETA-9089 filed by by Organization has been recently certified by the DOL and the attorneys are planning to move ahead with I-140 filing. Recently I got nominated for Senior Manager promotion and my management agreed to port my GC processing from EB2 to EB1 category once the promotion is through. The promotion and internal approval process for porting the GC category might take 3-6 months. In this situation, I would like to understand if I should wait for my promotion to come through before I move ahead with I-140 filing in Eb1 category. Or should i go ahead with the I-140 filing now for EB2 and then file another I-140 for EB1 after the porting is done? I am currently on L1-A visa which would expire in August 2019 and I am eligible for one more extension of 15 months.
