H4 approval wait times and steps to do if denied

Hello All,

My last date of H1B work is Nov30th 2018. My H1B is valid till April 2020. However, i had to resign from my job and have applied for change of status to H4 based on my wife's H1B. Her H1B is also valid until apr 2020. I have sent the documents on Nov 26th and it should reach USCIS by 27th. What is the usual processing/wait time? I believe i can stay in USA until a decision has been taken by USCIS. I have provided all documents needed and hoping it will not be denied. In case H4 is denied while still in USA, will i have enough time to prepare and leave. How do i proceed if there is a denial.

What is the usual processing/wait time?

2 to 3 months. You can stay legally until a decision has been made. You will have enough time to prepare. Just exit the country as soon as you get an update saying your application has been denied.
