COS Applied while on H1B receipt Notice

Hello All,

My wife has her approved H1 Visa till Dec 2017 and the employer have filed for extension in Oct 2017. While the extension is in progress, she had to resign to the job in May 2018. We have applied for Change of Status from H1 to H4 using I-539 before resigning and got the receipt notice on May 17th 2018. Her employer revoked the H1 petition in Jun 2018. Now, its been almost 6 months waiting for approval. The question we have is if she is on authorized stay or will there be legal issues.

She is legal while the H4 petition is pending.
