Location restrictions on STEM OPT

I work for a fortune 500 company based in Seattle on my F1 OPT. Since my company has locations in the Bay Area and my fiancée too lives there, I suggested to my employer to have me moved to the Bay Area and file for my H1B from San Francisco. I however got a response from my immigration team that during STEM OPT, I can not work from a location that is different than where my Manager is located.

Is my immigration team's assessment accurate? I don't see any clause on USCIS that speaks about location restrictions on a STEM OPT. Also, I am not in a consulting/contract position (I am aware of the restrictions to work in client/contract positions during STEM OPT) but an FTE and I am only asking to work out of a different office of my fortune 100 company, so I could be close to me fiancee.
