Effective date from h1b to F1 visa

Can I work on H1b if my F1 visa is not approved on the effective date mentioned on I-539 Document, as I have valid H1b Visa?

Presently i m on H1b (Valid till June-2019) and requested for change of Immigration status(I-539) to F1 visa for full time study starting from 5-Jan-2019 . If my change of status to F1 visa is not approved by 5-Jan-2019 can i continue working on h1b visa, As i have my H1b visa valid till June-2019. I will stop working once my F1 is approved.

Yes, you can continue working on valid H1 status until the expiration date or until your F1 status is approved, whichever comes first.
