Restrictions in availing co-pay or o-insurance assistance for Medical expenses while on a work visa

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

As we all know that unexpected medical expense can wipe our pocket out completely in this country even after the insurance coverage. At times, it could even put us in the situation where we need to look for external help. As in every country we also see in this country some organizations that can help people in need. In fact, the hospitals also help connect the patient's family to such organizations for financial aid.

My general question is, while on a work visa if we take any such financial help to pay the medical bills, would that be considered as a public charge and affect our status here in any form? If so, would it be applicable even for the non-governmental organizations?

Thanks,
