Preeti_123
Hello I got my greencard thru my husband in September 2016 who is an US Citizen, and I have applied for my extension to remove the conditional on the greencard which i got notice from USCIS saying its approved for next 18 months. Now since the processing time for reissuing the Greencard is approximately 18 to 23 Months. When will I be eligible to apply for US Citizenship, do i need the resissued greencard to apply for Naturalization or how does that work. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks Link to comment
pontevecchio
You need proof of the removal of conditions. "As a permanent resident, you should have received a green card. This card will continue to prove that you have a right to live and work in the United States permanently. If you file Form I-751 on time, we will extend your conditional resident status until a decision has been made on your application. You will be sent a notice reflecting this." The 3 years for naturalization still apply. You will get a positive decision much sooner than 24 months. Link to comment
Provence
You can apply 3 years after becoming an LPR provided you continue to live in marital union to the USC spouse. Whose account is this? The husband is claimed as a USC here, but wife's a USC in another thread 2 years ago. Why the discrepancy! Link to comment
