kssoni
Hello All, My H1B got approved in first attempt. However maybe based on PO or some other document (I am not sure which one), it is valid for 4 months only. My employer have already started preparing for extension. Currently, I am on my STEM OPT extension with 18+ months left. Looking at the current approval rate, - Should I continue STEM OPT and let go approved H1B? Is it even possible to choose between them? if yes, are there any consequences? - Also, if extension will not get approved, does it mean I need to be in lottery again or after going back India I can file new H1 with different employer. Thank you. Link to comment
gouthamsworld
Not sure about choosing between H1b and STEM but in case your extension is denied you will not be under cap for next h1 so dont need to go through lottery again . Link to comment

Thank you. Since your H1 is approved, your STEM OPT will be done on the date your your H1 start date. You have no option to go back to OPT. Your employer must file for an extension. Link to comment
