Green Card for Parents

All,

After getting great help from this forum , I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Murthy Forums.

Many doubts were clarified here! Now I would like to ask some questions for my parents GC process:

I was reading online documents checklist. So questions I have is:

1) They do not have Marriage Certificate? How should that be handled.

2) During their Medical what happens as they have many pre existing conditions like diabetes and age related etc.

3) Not sure if its needed but they do not have Birth certificate either.

4) Is it a good idea to file Parents Green card as AOS while they are here Visiting us?

5) If Yes for question 4 - they cannot Travel outside the country till they get GC. correct?

6) or when we file and they are in India - can they come to US in between on visitor visa?

They have visited US 3-4 times on visitor visa.

Use Consular processing . Make every effort to get the documents needed and/or requested by them. The process should take less than an year.

You can try to get a letter from the Indian Embassy but they will only provide a letter if there is an RFE for the Marriage certificate

How long can a Green Card holder stay outside of USA. My mom (has green card since 2012) would like to stay in India for 9 months would this cause any issue when she re enter US

She should get a Reentry permit before leaving.
