I-140 porting to research company

Hi, 

I am planning to join a research company, one thing that came up in initial discussions was portability of current I-140 from a software company to a research company. Would that be a problem?

An I-140 is never ported, it is specific to the company that filed it. The new employer would have to start the GC process from scratch. The only thing you an reuse is the PD.
