jyothip
I attended J1 visa few days ago in india. Last time I went for conference and stayed 5 months there. Based on this visa officer did not give the visa. So what are the chances of getting visa applying again and how to phase next visa interview? Please any one advise. Thanks in advance. pontevecchio
What is the reason you are applying for a J1 visa? Surely the visa for the conference was B1/B2? Link to comment

rak2009
Short term J1 conversion to Long Term Research Scholar J1 visa. Hi, I am here in the US with a short term (6 month) J 1 visa for research. This 6 month time will be finishing up soon. My PI want to give me a long term J1 visa. My short term J1 will end up soon. Do I need to go back to India for stamping to start this new DS2019 (Long term J1 visa) with in same university, same PI, same program but change in category to Long term Research Scholar. I don't have 2(1)2 e clause for this short term J1 visa. I should able to continue my position in the same university with this new DS2019. Why need to go for stamping if I am in the USA. Just make to ask some one who knows about it. Please advise if any of you know about it. Thanks RK Link to comment
