Getting Fund Transfer from Home Country

Hi,

I'm a green card holder and recently decided to purchase a house in the US.

For the down payment, I want to transfer some money from my bank accounts in the home country. This would be for a amount of around $50,000

Would IRS ask me to file taxes for this money? I would hate to have to pay taxes again as some of this money is what I inherited from my parents and some of it is funds I sent from the US back home (since I did not have plans to settle here at that time). Also, there is some money from a property that I sold in my home country.

What is the best way to transfer this money to as US bank without getting double taxed? (Cos I have already been taxed for all this in my home country)

That depends on the source of the money and the tax laws of both countries. AFAIK, the US doesn't tax inheritance from a foreign country. And there are agreements in place to avoid double taxation, but for the details you probably need to see a CPA experienced in international issues.
