howardroark
Hello, My question is: My wife is planning to travel to India from US for her VISA interview for F1 status. She is already on F2. Is there a possibility that if her F1 is rejected then F2 will also get cancelled? Please note that she has not done change of status in US from F2 to F1. Also, under what scenario's can F2 be cancelled and F1 denied? Thank you Link to comment
JoeF
They often cancel existing visas before the interview. That's Cancel without prejudice (CWOP), which means it is administrative and has no effect on getting other visas. Link to comment
howardroark
What does it mean when you say, they cancel "before interview". Is it when you go for interview? Could you please elaborate on this? Also, for Cancel without prejudice (CWOP), is when she would get her F1 , the F2 would be stamped as (CWOP). What if the her F1 gets denied? Event then her F2 is marked CWOP? Link to comment
pontevecchio
They may stamp CWOP on the F2 visa as a first step in the Interview. If they do and the F1 visa is denied, she can reaply for the F2 visa. Please note that college credibility is the most important factor for the F1 VISA. Link to comment
JoeF
CWOP means that there is nothing wrong or bad. That's the "without prejudice" part. With CWOP it is no problem to get the same visa (here F2) again. Link to comment
