Can i get paid through paypal on H4-EAD

Hi,

This may be weird question... i want to sell some used items and handmade craft items through online auction or fixed price selling sites which pays the money through paypal..  Is that legal on H4 EAD?  I believe its legal but do I need to show it somewhere like tax returns or DS-160 during future visa stampings ? The frequency of selling will be less, depend on the items and sells. Let me know. Thanks!

It is possible to do that on the EAD. Selling handmade craft items is a business, so you would have to declare the income on your tax return.

Thanks. And same applicable if I sell any used items or any other items? Right?  And any limit is applicable on income to show? like above some amount I have to show or something?

Casually selling your used items is not a business.

Selling items made for selling, or buying with the intent to sell is a business.

oh okay. Thanks for the clear picture. So if I resell any item, is there any limit to show on tax return.. example if I make $500-$1500 or may be less than $500 per year by doing reselling, do I need to show on  tax return as well ?  how does that work? thnx!

For tax issues, you may want to talk to a tax professional. Income as being self-employed is usually reported on Schedule C on the tax return. You may not get a 1099 is the income is below a certain level.

Thanks and how about DS-160 form? Do I need to fill as self employed or just home maker? Since the income is not on regular basis...
