Friend Visiting the US With Indian Possport Having Married Status But Recently Divorced

Hi,

My friend who has Indian passport with "married" status has got divorced recently.  Previously he visited the US on 2015 on visitor visa which is still valid.

He is planning to visit his relatives by September with existing approved Visa.  Please advise:

1. Should he enter US with passport having his status as married ?

2. His passport will expire in April 2019. Should he renew his passport with single status and enter the US?

3. Or get his status modified to single in the passport and then enter the US, will Immigration check create any issues entering as Single now?

The play "Much Ado About Nothing" comes to mind. Just kidding. The fact that he was married or getting divorced or is divorced has NO connection to his visit on this visa.
