Education Evaluation year of passing vs year of certificate issued

Hello all,

 

I passed my masters degree in 2006 but the convacation applied in 2011. So the date signed by vice chanceller is on 2011.

But the attorney filled ETA 9089 application "Year Relevant Education Completed" with 2011 date. I asked to change it my actual completion date to 2006 but attorney & education evaluation company both recomending to use 2011 please advise here with your valuable suggestions and experience.

 

April 2006 would be the date of completion, not date of award. USCIS interprets the date of award to be the date the convocation degree is issued (i.e. here 2011). While we can change the date on the evaluation to list the date of completion, it may result in an RFE. We strongly recommend keeping the date of award to avoid such an RFE.
