abhaykum
Hello, I have been a legal resident of US for a little over 20 years but only got my green card a year ago (That is a long story too). In general you can only sponsor for a family member once you have your citizenship. I wonder do I have to wait for another four years to get the citizenship and then sponsor my Parents or is there a way to apply for my citizenship now (under some clause or based on my already length of stay) and then sponsor? Can friends on this forum who had such experience before or the experts of this lawfirm help. Thank you. Abhay Link to comment
JoeF
No. You have to be a US citizen to sponsor your parents. And you are eligible for citizenship after 5 years of being a Permanent Resident. There is no shortcut. Link to comment
