I-94 not update after H1B approval

Hi,

 

I got my H1 approved last year, but my I-94 is still showing as F1 status. Can anyone please let me know how the I-94 gets updated with H1 status? Is there any procedure other than going out of country and coming back?

In the past, I have gone to local international airport and to DHS office to get my I-94 corrected. 

I read on Murthy forum that local DHS offices do not do that any more.

However, I faced this problem myself in June 2017 and went to see them in April 2018 without realizing earlier and they "took care of it". I verified my records online after 24-48 hours as recommended to me and It was a done deal.

If there is an I-94 at the bottom of approval notice, that is your I-94. The CBP website only shows I-94's obtained at POE, they don't update based on change or extension of status.
