Starting Green Card Processing while H1-B i797 extension is in progress

Dear Members,

I am in a situation where my new employer (Employer A) has filed for my H1-B Transfer and H1-B extension.

It has been over 4 months and I am still waiting on the result of my extension (current status is “Case Received with USCIS).

I will be completing 6 years on H1-B by Dec 2019, so I want to get my green card process started as early as possible.

My question is that while my Transfer and Extension is still in progress, can Employer A still start on my Green Card Processing? Or do I need to wait for USCIS to approve my current petition before starting on Green Card Processing.
