Changing status from H1 to H4, When should I stop working?

I am currently on H1 and decided to change my status to H4, my spouse's company is filing H4 and H4 EAD for me and I already have my receipt number, based on estimated process times, H4 and EAD is estimated between 1-3months. However, what is not very clear to me is, when do I give my current employer 2 weeks of notice.

So how do I decide when to quit my current job?

1. Should I wait till my H4 is approved? Then I cannot work anymore with my employer so I will have to quit immediately, which is not what I want to do (don't want to quit out of the blue, would like to give my 2 weeks notice, in order to not burn any bridges).

2. Can I give my 2 weeks of notice right away and quit working after that? What would my status be in this case, since I would be on H1 until my H4 is approved but I quit and will not be working.
