Different Last Names on Mother-in-law's Passport

Hello Murthy,

Greetings. I'm planning to apply visitor's visa for my spouse Mother. Recently got to know my mother-in-law is having a different Last Name on her passport and on my spouse  records it is different last Name. 

Guessing there are no legal records to prove.

This is all because my spouse's father was adopted to different family and changed their last names and lived with both families. So my spouse got a different last name.

Please suggest how can process the visitor visa to my mother-in-law.
