prashanthz
Hello All, My company recently went through layoffs and i was impacted. I`ve been trying my best to find a new employer/job before 60 days. In case i dont find anything, is it ok for me to apply for a masters degree and change my status to F1. This university offers CPT. Also if i a find a job in the near future, will there be any issues filing for H1 again? I`m totally confused and lost. Any help would be really appreciated. Link to comment
JoeF
No real university offers CPT from day one. Signing up with such an institution will result in you never getting an H1 again. Stay away from such an institution. Link to comment
Provence
Generally speaking, if an H1b employment is no longer available, the prudent thing to do is to return to your home country. Any COS, for example to an F1 status for which the primary intention is to either have income or just to stay legal, is inappropriate and against the terms of that visa. Recall that H1Bs are for temporary employments in the US. And as JoeF stated, reputable institutions of learning do not offer CPTs until after certain academic criteria have been met. Link to comment
