nw70
I am Permanent Resident and about 15 years ago I was falsely accused of domestic violence by addict ex spouse. I was arrested but the DA declined to press any charges and thus there is also no conviction. Prior, I have had zero legal issues in my history and I have no convictions. My GC expired a couple of years and frankly I am scared to renew it or apply for citizenship because of this incident. I have already renewed my green card once and it wasn't an issue but over the past ten years of this GC's life I've become increasingly fearful that some surprise consequence may occur if/when I renew. Is there anything to worry about? Thank you. Edited March 29, 2018 by nw70 Quote Link to comment
pontevecchio
Consult a lawyer and then file for citizenship. Quote Link to comment
natan111
If you did not plea guilty or otherwise admit to the crime, there is no conviction for USCIS purposes. Did this incident happen before you had the GC? Either way is fine. You will only need to disclose the arrest on N-400 and the interview. Edited April 5, 2018 by natan111 Quote Link to comment
