Does H4 student qualify for OPT if changed status to F1 interim?

Hi

Currently on H4, starting a course that offers OPT, change of status to F1 be completed by the middle of the course. Will not completing all quarters on F1 make me ineligible for the OPT?

That seems to be school dependent and hence you should ask your DSO.

The law says that to qualify for OPT, a person has to be in good standing for at least one academic year, and of course has to be in F1 status when applying.

But, as mentioned, universities can set stricter rules for their students.
