prsep84 Posted March 1, 2018 Report Share Posted March 1, 2018 I had been working until Jan 2018 on H4 EAD. My EAD expired and renewal was pending and my employer had to terminate my employment. I am waiting to hear back from USCIS on my visa status pretty soon. Am I eligible to apply for unemployment benefits for the period of jan and feb 2018 ? If yes, whats the procedure? JoeF Posted March 1, 2018 Report Share Posted March 1, 2018 No, because to be eligible for unemployment benefits you have to be willing and able to work in any job. With the EAD expired, you have not been able to work. Link to comment

It is listed on your state's government website, under department of labor (may be called differently in your state; in the 2 states I lived in, California, it is called EDD, Employment Development Department; in Texas, it is Texas Workforce Commission.)
