Sreenivasa
Dear Sir/Madam Greetings of the day. Pleased to meet you, myself Ravvinder and this query is about my Uncle and Aunty. My Uncle obtained US Citizenship through naturalization and Aunty is on Green Card status. They arrived India on 10th April 2017 and have been residing in India since then. Since my Aunty in on Green card status and her stay is also approaching close to one year, does she need to visit USA before the one year timeframe? She currently has health problems and so can she apply for extension of the stay in India without losing green card status. Please advise Sincerely Sreenivasa Link to comment
JoeF
She needs to live in the US to keep the GC. It is not and has never been enough to just visit once a year. If she has moved out of the US, not having a home there anymore, she essentially already has given up the GC. Link to comment
pontevecchio
They could talk to the firm of Murthy in Chennai to discuss future steps. If she stays abroad for more than one year, there is a possibility of losing the GC. Link to comment
