H1b expired, transit visa for travel to India via paris

Need urgent help. 
Has anyone recently travelled from usa to india via paris on expired USA visa stamp with approved I797? Did u take any transit visa or anything or you were good to go ? 
I have already checked with airline, they said you are good to go but many other websites forums saying you need airline transit visa for Paris.

No, you do not need a transit visa unless you are stepping out of the airport. Besides, if you have a valid Indian passport, that should be enough(assuming you are an Indian citizen).

If your stay is more then 24 hours you need transit visa but if it is less then then that no need of transit visa.
