Mostly all of the states are tied up with immigration these days and u r license will expire with ur i797. Most of the employers are really shitholes... Link to comment

But, in order to protect themselves from you jumping the ships they hold it back Link to comment

No, just the bottom part is needed for that. Next to the I-94 at the bottom there is a piece that has all the information needed. A good employer of course gives a copy of the approval notice to the employee. Link to comment
