famguy123
Hi all, My wife sponsored green cards for her brothers last month. We got acknowledgment receipts from USCIS. If family immigration is eliminated, what happens to the existing applications? Any guesses? I understand that family immigration is not eliminated yet but my question is mostly hypothetical. Also, Is there a family based applications inventory? Just want to know how many applications are ahead of us in line. Thank you, Kiran Link to comment
JoeF
It would depend on how the bill would be written. But I doubt it is going to happen. Link to comment
pontevecchio
Family based Immigration is the bedrock of the system. They may change the criteria for Employment based Immigration to allow for more highly qualified applicants only. But it is extremely illogical to assume that Family Immigration will be eliminated. I do not see that eliminated for the foreseeable future. Link to comment
Shurap1
My view on this is that even if that happens, it would not be retro active and existing applications should continue to process. If not then they should issue full refund (possibly with interest) or a lawsuit is waiting to happen. Link to comment
