U Visa

Hi,

I completed my masters and I am on OPT Visa. I was working at a gas station and I was a victim of a robbery. I reported the incident to the cops and they also gave me a case number and I also have the footage of the incident. I have been told that I can apply for U Visa. I wanted to know if I apply, will it affect my status and as I am working illegally, will I face any problems when they start the investigation?

First, you are no longer in valid status, because working at a gas station is not allowed foe somebody on F1 OPT.

Second, the U visa is not for robbery victims
