Travel to India while H4 EAD extension is in process

Hi,

I am on H1B Visa with approved i140. Based on which My wife has H4 EAD card until DEC 31 2017. My company applied for H1 Extension and have received the approval until Aug 2020. We are planning to travel to India sometime next month for VISA stamping. Meanwhile I have already applied for H4 EAD extension. My question is - Would EAD extension be effected because of the travel ? Should we wait until EAD is approved before we make any travel plans to india.
