yrakeshreddy
My wife and I filed I-485 AOS in June 2017 based on the GC application sponsored by my employer based on my H1-B visa. My wife is currently working as a medical researcher on an H1-B visa (non-profit). We received our EAD cards with AP this month. My wife's thinking moving to a part-time or unpaid internship role in the same researcher job because she needs time to focus on other career plans. I am wondering if you can help answer a few questions around this. Does she need to convert to an H4 status to do this ? If she doesn't need to change to an H4 status, can she work the reduced hours job or unpaid job with the EAD, or will it be a violation of the H1 status since that's her current legal status ? How long does it take to convert from H1 to H4 ? Thanks. Link to comment
directory0818
1. No 2. Yes she could work on Ead. Once start work on Ead, h1 is void 3. Should take 2-3 months to get approval Link to comment
