H1B to H4 COS denied after becoming permanent resident

Hi,need your suggestions. I decided to quit my job to take care of my new born. So, I filed for a H1B to H4 status change petition and submitted my resignation. Meanwhile, my dates became current and I became a permanent resident and got my GC. I even traveled out of USA and came back.

I have two questions.

1) My H1 to H4 petition was denied stating I abandoned the petition and left the country when my COS was in progress. Does this even matter? I ask this because I thought they will deny stating H1B to H4 does not apply as I am PR but they used the travel as a reason.

2) I because a permanent resident before my last few days of work at my employer. When we become a PR, my understanding is we need to update I9 with our employer which I did not because I got the the card much later but was approved before my end date with my employer. Does this matter?
