N400 and employment history question

Recommended Posts

I got my GC  in 2013 but by the time I got it I had lost my job and could not work for the company that sponsored my Green Card. I was unemployed for the first year and a half of my GC but have been employed since then.  I am now eligible for citizenship.

Is my unemployment going to raise red flags and hurt my application process?

It could be a problem, because the GC job didn't exist anymore.

You should discuss your situation with a good immigration lawyer.

If the company laid you off around about the time you got the GC, that left you free to seek alternate employment in the same field . Ordinarily you should be able to naturalize as soon as you are able to. As suggested a Lawyer may be able to give you guidance if any is needed.
