Visit india for F-1 Stamping. F-2 Stamp expires in 2019

Hi,

My wife came to the US on a F2 Visa in 2015 (Visa stamp expires June 2019) and changed her status to F-1 while she is in the US. Now she wants to visit India for F-1 Stamping.

Will she be able to board British airways?

Does she need a transit visa?
