I-94 Expiring, No Valid Visa Stamp, I-797 Valid till May'2018

Hello All,

Here is my Situation, I don't have valid Visa stamped on my Passport. My I-94 Expires Sep"17. But i have valid H1b(I-797) till May'18. Can i go the Mexico border and get my i-94 Extended? 

I did try going to CBP office in houston they said they couldnt do anything as it was not the immigration officers fault and suggested me to travel out of country or apply for I-539(which doesnt apply for H1b).

No you can't as you cannot come back without visa once you go out of country. Ask your employer to apply for extension.
