KRBHARATH
Hi, I am in 9th year h1b. I am going to Chennai consulate for visa interview next week. My ex-employer filed my I-140 and got it approved in 2014. My ex-employer gave me the copy of my approved I-140 using which I transferred my h1b to new employer and got 3-year extension. My question is, 1) Do I need ORIGINAL I-140 approval notice for visa stamping or just a COPY of approved I-140 notice is enough for visa interview in Chennai/India? Thanks for your advise. Regards, Bharath Link to comment
gopalakrishnach
copy is enough... but take it from your current employer... Link to comment
PradeepReddi
No, I-140 belongs to Employer, some employers give it's original to employees. but most of them don't. Link to comment
asikka
most employers provide their employees with a copy of I-140 Link to comment
ajaysharma
Echoing the others. Original is not needed (and most employers only give you a copy). Take the copy with you. For e.g. in my interview the officer asked if mine was a post 6th year extension, and when I said yes and asked if he wanted to see the copy, he said 'no need.' Link to comment
