Using old approved but expired per for 1 year extension

Hi

I had my perm approved 365 days before my 6 years h1b expiry through company A. However before reaching I 140 stage,  I had to move out and join another company B , as company A that filed the perm closed down. I have the copy of approved perm from company A which has now expired.

My new company B is in process of re-filing new perm but it wont get approved before my 6 years expiry and would be filed after 365 days of 5th yr expiry. My lawyers say given the fact that my Perm with the new company B would be pending approval as we approach 6 years expiry, that perm filing proof along with the OLD approved but expired PERM form company A can then be used with USCIS for 1 year extension. Is this correct?
