University Transfer (56 days gap before the next semester start date) - Need help

Hello folks, I'm currently enrolled in a Univ (Let's say Univ A) and my quarter is ending on 12-March-2017. I got accepted to another university (Let's say Univ Y) for Summer semester which starts on 08-May-2017. There's approx. 56 days gap between the quarter end date in Univ X and Semester start date in Univ Y. Here are my questions:

a) Is it legal to stay in the country during that 56 day time period between the university transfer (Considering the fact that there's about 56 days gap).
b) If the answer to the above question is "No", then, what are the options I have?
